Bear Creek Club Rush - Zaijian Campilan
During the week of August 25th-29th, Bear Creek Key Club participated in our annual Club Rush to promote our club and to engage our campus! Starting on the 25th, numerous people stopped by to take pictures with our various posters, from Wanted Grizzly, to Us When Key Club! We had a polaroid collage, and free candy was offered for playing Bean Bag Toss. On the 29th, students returned to sign up, and we received over 150 signatures for our club! This event was a great way for students to learn more about the clubs on campus, including Key Club!

Micke Grove Zoo Cleanup - Sofia Yanos
On July 29, our club members attended the Micke Grove Zoo Cleanup. Attending members were tasked with cleaning around while the zoo was closed to renovate an area. Our club members helped pick weeds and clear an empty river bed of all rocks so flowers could be planted. Additionally, the staff allowed us to tour the zoo and see all the creatures on display. The staff members were very friendly and thankful for our help! While it was quite arduous clearing and picking up all the weeds and rocks, seeing all the creatures and the workers’ gratitude was very rewarding!

August DCM - Andrew Cao
The August DCM was a great way to have fun in the sun! With a huge attendance from both new and returning members, fundraising clubs quickly sold out! At the DCM, brookies, onigiri, spirit gear, matcha and more were sold! A DCM isn’t complete without ice breakers, and this month did not disappoint! Capitan’s Call, a classic, was a great way to start off the ice breakers. With water-based games, more thrill was added to Red Light, Green Light and other various games. After the DCM, a STC was held, where the chant “Boom” was taught.

Taco The Town - Anthony Taing
Taco the town was a marathon-style event held on Saturday, September 6th. Hosted by Skedaddle, volunteers arrived in the dead of morning, 4 AM, to set up the course. Once the event started, most volunteers were split into groups serving at designated spots along the course to encourage runners and guide them. For those who stayed at the start/finish line, they were tasked with handing out medals and water to runners who finished the course. Although it was a long day, these kinds of events are always fun, and the beautiful sunrise definitely aided in volunteer morale.

Cesar Chavez Club Rush - Joseph Bui
Cesar Chavez Key Club gave many of its members the opportunity to recruit incoming freshmen! Volunteers chanted, cheered, and played games with the new students to encourage them to join. For their hard work, Key Clubbers were treated to free pizza and water. By the end of the event, the club successfully signed up numerous freshmen. Volunteers had the chance to meet up with friends and bond with one another. Many came up with creative ways to attract freshmen, such as pretending to drop something on the ground and even engaging in cheer battles with other clubs!
